Adult Autism, ADHD & AuDHD Evaluation
Evaluations are conducted by a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in adult Autism, ADHD, and AuDHD, with expertise in psychiatric assessment, differential diagnosis, and psychopharmacology (medication management).
Each evaluation includes a focused Autism and/or ADHD neurodevelopmental assessment and a general psychiatric evaluation, allowing for careful consideration of developmental history, current functioning, sensory processing, executive functioning, masking, burnout, emotional regulation, treatment history, and relevant medical factors.
The evaluation includes both focused neurodevelopmental interview appointments and a separate general psychiatric evaluation. The neurodevelopmental interview is typically 2–3 hours for Autism-focused evaluations and 3–4 hours for combined Autism + ADHD evaluations, divided across two appointments. The general psychiatric evaluation is a separate 60–90 minute appointment focused on psychiatric history, treatment history, relevant medical factors, and differential diagnosis.
Before the interview appointments, you will complete detailed intake forms and questionnaires. Most individuals should expect to spend approximately 2–3 hours completing pre-assessment materials, depending on how much detail they choose to provide.
Final diagnostic impressions are grounded in DSM-5-TR criteria and psychiatric differential diagnosis, while also considering developmental history, current functioning, masking, compensation, and internal experience.

Neurotype-Informed Continuing Care & Medication Management
Slow Psychiatry for Autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD Adults. Continuing care services at Inner Awareness Psychiatry are designed for autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD adults seeking a more individualized, neurotype-informed approach to psychiatric care. Some adults choose to continue care following their diagnostic evaluation at Inner Awareness Psychiatry. Because autism, ADHD, and AuDHD evaluations already include a comprehensive psychiatric assessment, a separate psychiatric intake appointment is not required.
If you have been diagnosed with, evaluated for, or are actively exploring autism, ADHD, or AuDHD and are seeking psychiatric care, you are welcome to request a consultation to determine whether Inner Awareness Psychiatry is an appropriate fit for your needs.
Care is structured around understanding what is contributing to symptoms and functional challenges. Continuing care may include neurotype-informed medication management when appropriate, supportive psychotherapy, executive functioning support, psychoeducation, practical behavioral and environmental strategies, and help identifying patterns that contribute to burnout, overwhelm, or shutdown. The goal is to support quality of life, day-to-day functioning, and a more sustainable way of living.
